Blog Assignment# 20: 2 hour room creativity and activity ideas

1. For my room setup I would like to get some sort of wall covering- like maybe a black sort of tarp-thing that I saw in a lot of presentations last year. I would also like to arrange the desks in groups of four or five students and then cover the groups of tables with different color tablecloths.
2. For one of my answer 1 or answer 2 activities, I would like to incorporate different food products and why which one is better to eat and why a certain product wouldn't be good to eat. I would like to bring healthy snacks for the participants.

Blog Assignment #19 Second Answer

Second Answer-
Know the limits on fats, salt, and sugar by learning to read the nutrition facts label.

Nutrition Facts Label:
Important things to know about Nutrition Facts:
  • Serving Size
  • Total and Saturated Fat
  • Sodium
  • Cholesterol
For example:

Fat per 100 calories should be no more than 3 grams, so ten grams of fat in a 200 calories serving is not nutritionally balanced. The RDA( Recommended Daily Allowance) for sugar, salt, and fat are as follows
  • Sugar: 25 grams for women, 37.5 for men
  • Salt/Sodium:2300 miligrams

Blog Assignment #18 The Product

As of March, I believe that my product is that I have learned to eat healthier, and cook better food. Lately I have been tracking my diet on the app for android called MyFitness Pal. This way I can see exactly what I am eating and how much nutrients I am getting from it- and which I am getting too much of. I have also started Service Learning where I have been helping to cut vegetables for salads and make other healthy foods like whole wheat turkey sandwiches.

Blog Assignment #16 Independent Component 2 Approval

1. I would like to continue the work that I have done for my first component as I feel that I can learn more about Nutrition in a hands on way. I will also be tracking my diet using myfitness pal for android. And, this semester I will have my dietary service learning at Casa Colina which will also help me better understand my topic.
2. I think my plan will meet the thirty hours of work requirement because cooking a meal at least twice a week will take a few hours of preparation and cooking time- it depends on how advanced the recipe is.
3. My Independent Component relates to my EQ because a lot of times, people end up with a health concern because they are eating too much fast food that is virtually devoid of nurtients. Cooking at home, using healthy recipes will help to get more nutrients in a daily diet.
