Dependent variable:rate of obesity
Independent variable:cooking at home versus not cooking at home
Control: American Families in California

-This experiment will help me understand my EQ, because it is about nutrition and health concerns. Obesity is a very big health concern.

-I will collect the data by using some of the statistics sites from the ESA like the U.S. department of agriculture, NIH, and CDC.  I will then use this study to construct my experiment: http://www.nature.com/oby/journal/v19/n12/full/oby2011130a.html.  Lastly, I will use statistics to analyze the significance of my results.

Blog Assignment #2 First Interview

Q: Who am I interviewing and why?
For my First Interview, I am interviewing a Nutritionist at The Pomona Unified School District, Maria Davila. I am interviewing her because she has over five years in nutritional planning and fieldwork at the school district. I think this is a good place to start for my senior project because I don't really know too much about Nutrition yet, and someone who has experience planning meals for schoolchildren would be beneficial.

Blog Post#1: Senior Project Topic

Q :What is my topic and why?

The topic I  chose for my project is Nutrition. I chose this as my topic as I have always been obsessed with reading the Nutrition Labels on food packaging and wondered how this is correlated to eating a healthy diet. When I was in elementary school, we learned about the Food Pyramid and how much of each food group we are supposed to eat daily.

Q: What do you want to accomplish from this project?

I would personally like to know why exactly our bodies need vitamins and minerals, and exactly how much we should be ideally consuming. Also, I would like to start eating a more healthy nutritious, diet that is not dusgusting or entirely Vegan.
